Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Limited (IREDA) is a Public Limited Government Company established in 1987 as a Non-Banking Financial Institution. It operates under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) and has 'Navratna' status. IREDA provides financial assistance for renewable energy projects in India, including wind, solar, hydro, biomass, and waste-to-energy. The company offers various financial products such as long-term and short-term loans, take-out financing, bridge loans, and non-fund based assistance. IREDA plays a strategic role in promoting and developing the renewable energy sector in India, implementing government initiatives and policies. In 2023, the Reserve Bank of India granted IREDA the status of an Infrastructure Finance Company.
